This is a challenge race between the Harriers & Retford AC along the Chesterfield Canal between Worksop & Retford & back again. The start alternates each year between Worksop & Retford. Each race is followed by a buffet.
Below is a diagram to explain how the canal relay works. Essentially, you race one leg as a pair, then jog steadily for a further 3 legs so you are ready and waiting to race your return leg (this won’t be the leg you ran on the way out). All pairs will pass through Botany Bay. Only one pair races the turnaround leg:
