This week has seen the Harriers tackling a varied mix of terrain from road, to fell to trails, showing the variety of events the club gets involved with.

First up, a special mention for junior George North. Taking his third win in a week, this time at the district schools’competition, George has qualified to represent Nottinghamshire in January’s County finals. A massive well done to George, who is going to need his own newsletter at this rate!

Saturday saw three Harriers take on Baslow Bolt fell race, with Jim and Sally Staveley and Nat Cunningham covering the 8-mile course with nearly 1300ft of elevation in conditions best described as interesting. Heavy rain made the course slippy and muddy, but all enjoyed the event, particularly the cake at the finish.

heading indoors and Summer Johnson opened her indoor athletics season at the Sports City in Manchester, this past Sunday, 30th November, with two indoor pb's.

Summer began her day by running 9.95s in the 60m hurdles. This was her first competition in the U17W age group and her first 60m hurdles run under 10 seconds. She then cleared 1.50m in the high jump and was very close to clearing 1.55m, so a good start to her indoor season.

Summer continues her indoor season this coming weekend at the EIS in Sheffield, along with several of her club team mates.

On Sunday a squad of Harriers travelled the short distance for Doncaster 10k, with some amazing results. There was a PB and club gold standard for Paul Parry, who was swiftly followed by Matt Daly and Ryan Brown, with another PB,and Nick Mould for a strong men’s showing. A glut of PB’s followed from the ladies including from Gabs Bower, Tamara Hazlehurst -also running club gold standard time-, Charlotte Randall, Nia Arthur and Sarah-Jayne Baines. Madi Spencerdid some excellent support duties, and Rachel Silcock showed great return to form with a silver standard.

Finally, a club favourite, the Edwinstowe Christmas 10k trail race took place on Sunday. Kerry Saville led the team home followed by Neil Allsop, Cath Mhembre, Jeff Newton, Louise Morrise, Sarah Dickenson, Sheryl Hibberd, and Vikki Eeles. It was also a great opportunity for runners to get into the Christmas spirit early and don their best fancy dress! Well done everyone who ran this week!
