We’ve had a bit of everything this week, from indoors to outdoors, home and away, and road and hills.
Earlier last week saw the Bassetlaw Sportshall schools event, and congratulations to one of our juniors, Hattie Bell, for getting a silver medal.

The weekend then started with the Runway, a unique opportunity to run on the runway at Doncaster Airport prior to it reopening, in a 5.8km race. Several Harriers ran, led home by Nick Mould, with Joanne Campbell, Julie Gaskell, Sam Thorneloe, James Morgan, Sarah Morgan and Kate Thorneloe following. Special mention to Kate who, due to injury couldn’t run but still laced up and walked it!

On Saturday, Sally Hamer took on Hardmoors 55, a tough ultra marathon in North Yorkshire of 55 miles and nearly 7600ft of climbing over some of the area’s most difficult hills. Competitors have 16 hours to complete it, and Sally was delighted to come in 40 mins quicker than her previous time.
Sunday saw Tanja Maric combine a race and a break in the sun in beautiful Porto for the Vila Nova De Gaia half marathon along the coast, with an apparently fabulous goody bag. And one of the best photos of the weekend!

Continuing the long-distance theme, Ashby 20 took place on Sunday, traditionally a sell out race that many use as a marathon prep race. Charlotte Randell and Nia Arthur used it as an opportunity to get the miles in, both finishing strongly on a tough double loop.

Isaac Beresford competed in the South Yorkshire Athletics Indoor Series on Sunday with amazing results. Isaac has gone from strength to strength recently, and got a High Jump PB, ran his first ever 300m indoors, and in his first year of competing came 4th overall in U15s out of 60 entries, a fantastic result for someone at the younger end of the group.

Last but not least, 5 of our junior boys competed in the Primary school national XC event this weekend. The fields are huge and amongst tough national competition, every single one of them had an amazing run with Max Foster and Freddie North in Year 4 race, Hugo McCarthy and Freddie Parente in Year 5 and George North in year 6. Big well done to them- and all the parents who provide the support and transport!
