XC racing kicked off this weekend as our Junior Harriers got the season underway in their first mini-league match underway on Sunday 28th September at King’s Park, Retford. Races for U11 up to U15 boys and girls with distances from 1.5 km up to 4 km for a good morning of racing. A mix of laps with a flat loop around the west of the park and a hilly loop past the bridge for the large lap.
Our U11’s got the series going with Lauren Townrow first Harrier home for the U11G in 4th followed by a team of Bethany Hands, Libby Mould and Isla Arthur with several of the girls making their club debut with excellent debuts across the 2 lap course. Next up the U11 with excellent individual and team performances as Worksop U11B took the win helped by a 1st place finish by George North, and Oakley Allsop, Hugo McCartney and Freddie Parente all in the top-10 with young brother Freddie North rounding out the team. Extra mention for Max Foster in the race with an excellent 11th place despite being the sole U09.
Up an age group and the U13’s with 2 km for the girls Aya St Juste and Eliza De Villers both ran well whilst the boys ran 3 km as Isaac Beresford, Ethan Baxter and Harry Robertson landed the boys team a 3rd place finish
Top of the age group our U15G’s were led home by Holly Bulmer, joined by Bethany Hands and Heidi Marks as the girls finished 3rd whilst Henry Marks was our sole runner as the U15B ran 4km
An excellent day for our young Harriers getting the series underway which saw the team finish 3rd overall on the day alongside some excellent runs.
The team XC results came off the back of some excellent individual results earlier in the week as several Harriers competed in the Bassetlaw XC district schools event. Hugo ran an excellent race to 3rd in his race whilst Lauren Townrow and Freddie Parente also enjoyed success as they qualified to represent the district at the next stage.
A quieter weekend from our senior section but still space for racing out on the scenic trails of the Ladybower Trail Race. 22 km and nearly 600m of vert as runners headed through Hope, up Win Hill and then over towards Ladybower before back the same way making for a challenging but very scenic day out on a challenging course
