Trails, hills and sunset hiking

It's been a busy week of action for the Harriers!

We saw 5 Harriers take on the latest KMR trail race at the Rockingham Chase on Wednesday evening, with a great 3rd place finish for Euan Carroll, with Ryan Brown, Neil Allsop, Chris Lawrence and Louise Morris following on a very hot night.

Friday night saw the latest club social event, with 24 Harriers and friends having a sunset hike in the Peak District, taking in the views above Longshaw. The club has been putting on a number of non running social events of late, to enable those who want something different, or might be injured or returning to running soon to get involved and connect with their squad mates and this was another successful evening.

Saturday saw Kerry Dickinson and Sarah Morgan take on the Little Dipper fell race in Dovedale, a 16 mile 2500ft of elevation race that is always well organised, and even offers a dram of whisky on the last aid station!

We also had Mark Hazlehurst volunteering at the Commonwealth Games, representing the club. Even these huge international events cannot go ahead without people willing to volunteer their time, so well done to Mark, who even had time to squeeze in a couple of parks runs over the week!

Sally and David Bulmer took their annual trip to do Queens Half Mararthon in Cornwall, in beautiful sunshine, with a mix of trail and road making it a gorgeous but tough course! Well done both!

And finally, although the juniors haven't raced last week, we had the fabulous news that 4 of our multi event squad have been selected to represent Nottinghamshire in the National Combined Events Championship in Bedford later this month! Well done to Summer Johnson, Darcey Croshaw, Grace Walton and Freddie Marks, and we are excited to hear about your adventures! This is a huge achievement for this group of dedicated young athletes who train together and support each other, and the rest of the squad, over many long hard training sessions. We are very proud of them all!
