A busy weekend for our junior athletes as it was a weekend featuring some great high-level compeition following qualification at numerous events earlier in the year.
We start not far away at the UK Counties Association Union XC Final at Wollaton Hall as following qualification at the County match earlier in the year, three Junior Harriers pulled on the Nottinghamshire (Still green!) vest to represent their county against 41 other counties not just from all corners of england but the whole of the UK, as each county of the home nation sent their qualifying athletes. Conditions were a stark contrast to wet and cold of the January qualifying match on one of the warmest days of the year made this feel very different to the XC races leading here. Courses for the day were made up of various laps of the Wollaton grounds but all featured the same lung buster as the athletes were sent up the hill towards the Hall before dropping down around the woods and ground, each lap finishing a repeat of the opening climb before finally getting to use the downside of the same hill for a dash back to the finish line.
First up on the day and achieving her first county vest, Holly Bulmer joined the Notts U13 girls for a single 3k Lap as the Notts girls finished 25th overall and 255th overall. On the U13 Boys front it was a repeat of the 1 lap 3k course as county champion Oscar Wallace finished 180th overall with Notts finishing 39th. Finally and in the penultimate race of the day it was 4k, two lap course for Miley Townrow as she finished 184th to help the girls team to 18th overall in the UK.
On to Sunday and we had more XC at the ISA XC Finals at Mallory Park. Athletes this time representing their schools districts. Brothers George and Freddie North raced 1.9 km and 1.5 km courses respectively as George finisher 14th in the Y5&6 race with Harry finishing 46th in the Y3/4 race. Aya St Juste covered the same 1.9 km race in the Y5/6G finishing 36th.
Finishing up the junior section this weekend we head indoors to the EIS.
This weekend Grace Walton (U17W) and Summer Johnson (U15G) competed successfully in the National Indoor Combined Events Championships at Sheffield, both coming away with overall PB points scores and both finishing 22nd in their respective pentathlon competitions. This rounds off a very successful indoor season for our combined events group and all bodes well for the outdoor season.

Just a small number of our seniors in action this weekend at the Inaugural 'Kimmy Killer 10k'. Hosted by Kimberworth Striders, the three lap course takes its name for the killer hill runners are sent up each lap and our ladies certainly made a killing as they finished 1st, 2nd and 4th place for Sam Robinson, Nat Cunningham and Cathy Mhembere respectively (with a recovering Chris Lawrence giving chase finishing somewhere between them!)
