Another medal winning, PB packed and prize winning report for the Harriers as we start mid-week with the popular KMR series kicking off for 2025 the Maltby Abbey Dash. a new course meant there wasn’t much of an Abbey view but two undulating laps of the Abbey Wood’s just to the north in the trails for 3.5 miles and 300 ft of climbing. 15 Harriers headed up for the Wednesday night race with its cheap entry, post race chip butties and a good bit of weeknight racing. A productive evening for the Brady household as Hannah Miller took 2nd lady and 3rd Man for Henry Brady going home with a bottle of wine each and a good start to the series!

On to the weekend and the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire combined T&F champs took place at Berry Hill over Saturday and Sunday. A superb weekend of competition saw plenty of PB’s, podiums and several county Champions!

Isaac Beresford got the Harriers and himself to a fantastic start and day grabing the first medal of the day with Gold in U13B Long Jump and PB (4.33m) before winning three more golds and PBs in the 100m (13.56s), 200m (28.5s) and HJ as well as Silver and PBs in 800m (2:33) and Javelin (16.5m). An excellent weekend for the young athlete!

In the men’s 5,000 m Tom Shaw took Silver (16:42) with Nick Mould running a superb sub-20 PB before going on to also PB in the 200m in 29.77.

Back to the Field and Summer Johnson showed continued improvment, gaining a glut of medals as she jumped to take Gold and a PB in the HJ (1.47m) to go with Silvers in the 75mH (13.1s) and Javelin (22.97m PB) as well as Bronze in LJ (4.62m) and Shot (7.22m).

Scoring another gold, Miley Townrow ran a superb and exciting race, taking pole position on the final lap bell to run a big PB in the 3,000 m in 11:07

Mason Heath added a silver and bronze in the HJ (1.15m) and 100m (13.89s)

Harry Cole continues to improve with two excellent PB’s of 29.53 in the 200m and 2:48.60 in the 800m

A very productive weekend for Brooklyn Crooks saw him PB and a Gold medal for each day as Saturday PB'd in the LJ (6.85m) before returning on Sunday for the HJ (1.95m)

Our youngest competitors of the day in the Quad Kids (U11 Boys and girls) has a fantastic Saturday of competing as they competed over 75m Sprint, 600m run, LJ and Howler Throw. Lauren Townrow took Bronze joined by Libby Mould having a great day in her first ever competition. On to the boys and it was PB’s galore again as George North took Gold, with Hugo McCarthy just outside the medals and plenty of PB’s for Oakley Allsop

Sunday would prove to be an excellent day for the jumps as Charlotte Ayton took Gold in the LJ (5.18m) before scoring a PB and silver in the 100mH (15.53s) before finishing up with a 200 m PB (26.19s)

Making it a Harries double, Alicia Wells competing for Worksop Harriers on the Derbyshire side of the competition as matching her team mates jump of 5.18m saw another gold before running 100mH to now only grab a second gold but with a time of 15.34s securing a coveted qualification spot at the English Schools Championship!

Elsewhere on Sunday Harriers were getting their Sunday miles in with Paul Parry and Tanja Maric both taking part in the Chesterfield 10k. Paul ran 38:17 with Tanja running 57:06

The biggest gathering however took place at the FOYPIB Welbeck 10k. A local charity fun run, its none-the-less a great opportunity for a little club trip down the road, with the opportunity to take in a scenic one lap loop of the normal closed Welbeck grounds. The warm conditions and a some rolling roads made for a challenging course in parts but enjoyable all the same for the excellent views on offer with over 30 Harriers taking part, as well as couple trophies awarded to Miley Townrow and Oakley Allsop as first Junior finishers to round out a busy weekend for the pair!
