Two XC compeitions kicking off on a busy Saturday as we started off the notts Schools XC compeitions at Berry Hill from Primary year 5 through to Year 11 and some excellent results to start the series as our young Harriers competed for their schools with the potential for medals for both th school and individuals across the series. In Year 5 a busy day for Max Foster started off, finishing 8th, whilst up a year Hugo McCarthy finished 5th!
Up to year 10 and in the girls Holly Bulmer made a superb start to the series (and another one with a busy Saturday!) finishing 4th and joined by Team mate Heidi Marks (17th). Across to the boys and brother Henry made a welcome return to XC racing finishing 11th to round out an excellent morning of XC racing.
The competition carried on in to the Afternoon as a little further down the road, the North Mids XC had the first of four races at Markeaton Park Derby an another excellent club day out with athletes from U10 up to the seniors getting their XC season underway.
A brilliant start to the day with the new U10 race where two young Harriers had fantastic start with GiGi finishing not just 1st girl but incredible 3rd overall joined by Penny’s debut in the league.
Up to the U12’s and two boys and one girl with Freddie North, Maxwell Foster (2nd run of the day!) and Lydia Spencer all having great runs.
Up to U14 and our first full team with a great start with George North, Oakley Allsop and Teddy Spencer with three superb performances and quite the jump to 4km, whilst Isla Arthur made sure the girls were represented in the U14 girls race.
U16’s saw our second double day as Holly Bulmer competed whilst also making sure of great team support!
On to our women and with some stellar performances both individually and as team as in the U18W Isla Bell took 3rd and followed soon by Miley Townrow as the two make an excellent start to the team competition, whilst in the Senior Ladies compeition, Hannah Miller led home the ladies team followed soon by a 1-2 of Darcie Wasnidge and Madi Spencer with a full team of Claire Allsop, Sally Bulmer, Sue Wasnidge, Cath Mhembere and Nia Arthur means another strong ladies team competition performance
Finishing up the day saw the men take on three full laps of the course. My first proper race back with Bryan Cherry, Henry Brady, Dave Bulmer, Pete Spencer, Chris Lawrence, Matan Duveen and Tim Baggs making up the men’s team.
