A very proud weekend for the club as we showed we’re a club packed with extraordinary people as we added a new event to our roster with the first edition of the Clumber Dirty Dozen. Conceived in just spring of this year the event gone from just an idea to launch this past weekend, thanks to the hard work of Nick Mould, Chris Johnson, Sam Robinson, Chris Lawrence, Julie Holloway, Kirsty FW and a special mention for friend of the club Mark Fielding. At 11:00 am on Saturday morning months of hard work over 300 runners set off from the middle of Clumber as the 12 mile took them over to the border on the South, down by the lake for scenic before bringing the runners, past the cows in to and around Hardwick and back via the Pleasure Grounds. The sun shone for the entirety of the morning with lots of great running, a crack team of over 40 club members keeping everyone motivated and on track with the launch dubbed a success by all involved!
Amongst the 330 runners from many clubs around the area, we even had a few Harriers get in on the inaugural actions as 10 Harriers flew the green and black colours around the course and this years addition was won by our very own Saimon Kihwele making it home win with a kick with 200m to go after a well-measured race in a time of 1:13:44 whilst the ladies race was won by Naomi Wileman of City of Hull AC in 1:23:27
From a Saturday of Senior Success to our juniors turn on Sunday as the Notts mini league XC had its first match at Kings Park Retford. The newly change age groups meant the day expands to four races each for boys and girls from U10 up to U16 covering from 1.5km up to 4km and a super turn out for the Harriers with over 20 athletes and a super set of team performance as both the U10 and U12 boys and girls both sit 2nd whilst the U14 boys and U16 Girls took 3rd place which not only means a plenty of great team performances but also places the club 2nd in the overall competition!
We finish off this all off-road report with Kerry Dickinson and Sarah Morgan as they had their first attempt at the 40th edition of the Golden Gate Gallop. A 5 mile double loop of Elvaston castle for a fab day out. The event raises money for blood cancer and had a great friendly well marshalled feel plus excellent medal and goodie bag with Sarah finishing in 48:09 followed by Kerry in 52:09
