Time for one of the highlights of the running calender this weekend as the National XC Relays took place at Berry Hill, Mansfield allowing a great cross-section of the club to come together as we had from the U14's up to our veterans racing around the twists, turns and a couple of jumps across grass and woodland.
Starting the day off our U18 Ladies took raced across 2.5km each with Isla Bell getting the Harriers underway on the day followed by Miley Townrow and Emilia Jonczyk.
A succession of races made for a busy morning as straight after we were on to the U14's with both the boys and girls racing in 3x 2km teams. The boys were off first with George North, Teddy Spencer and Taylor Mason before the girls got underway as Lauren Townrow, Bethany Hands and Isla Arthur completed the mornings action.
The Mixed relay and Junior mens race gave time for a bit of spectating nad lunch before we were back underway with the U16's with a 3x 2km relay. This time the girls got us underway as Holly Bulmer went out first followed by Heidi Marks and Eliza De Villiers for three great runs before Isaac Beresford, Jenson White and Henry Marks combined for the boys race and more solid performances!
With the juniors complete, following a morning of spectating it was the seniors turn to take to the course. First up with three teams in the ladies 3x 3 km we had plenty to cheer on and some fantastic club compeition as the ladies A team of Darcie Wasnidge, Madi Spencer and Hannah Miller raced nearly neck and neck to the final leg against our B team of Sarah Worley, Valerie Wong (making a superb club debut!) and Julie Holloway. Completing our ladies teams were Charlotte Randell, Sally Bulmer and Cathy Mhembere meaning making a great race with always a green vest in sight to shout on!
Finishing off the day the men matched the ladies with three teams as well in 4x 5km race. The relays may be national but there always scope for a bit of local rivalry which is always embraced as we race against local friends. Great runs from all our teams with many XC debuts as we had Worksop A (Tom Shaw, Ben Rhodes, Henry Brady and Euan Carroll), Worksop B (Bryan Cherry, Ryan Brown, Adam Jonczyk and Tom Pettit) and Worksop C (Dom Ayton, Craig Moore, Dave Bulmer and Chris Lawrence) with all having great runs and completing a superb day out!
