Whilst most might have struggled to find an event this weekend with many parkuns and like cancelled, our junior athletes were still hard at work indoors with some excellent results

During the past weekend we had athletes competing at both the EIS in Sheffield and at Loughborough.

On Saturday, the Northern Championships at Sheffield, there were some good performances by Charlotte Ayton and Dabeer Yousef.

Charlotte competed in the U20W 60mh and recorded a new pb of 9.57s, just 0.07s off the National qualifying time. Charlotte followed this with another pb and a time of 8.23s in the 60m, getting through to the semi-finals where she ran then ran 8.31s. Dabeer competed in the U17M 400m on Saturday recording a pb time of 57.5s and then ran the 800m on Sunday in a time of 2m 12s.

Performance of of the weekend however, goes to Summer Johnson competing at Loughborough, ranning a time of 10.15s in the U15G 60m hurdles, not only recording a new pb but also achieving a fantastic goal to beat the National qualifying time of 10.3s.

Also at Loughborough, Freddie Marks ran a new pb of 9.64s in the U17M 60m hurdles and is also looking to beat the qualifying time for the National Championships himself. Well done to these ever-improving athletes.

The multi-events team now look forward to next weekend at Sheffield and the National Indoor Combined Events Championships. with Brooklyn Crooks competing in the U20M Octathlon, along with Alicia Wells and Charlotte Ayton competing in the U20W Pentathlon. All three athletes are looking to achieve a top four place in this competition, with the aim of selection for the international event in Sweden. An excellent reward for their hard work and aiming to meet high standards

Closer to Worksop on Sunday, we also had a great group of Juniors in the 3rd mini league match of the season with a series sprint, jumps of throws. Results are still awaiting publishing at time of writing but another great team turn out meant plenty of Junior Harriers taking advantage of the indoor compeition to still get their events in!
