This week saw limited events but a lot of success for the Harriers.
Over the weekend, Worksop Harriers Alicia Wells and Grace Walton both secured new Pentathlon PB's in the U20W Pentathlon, at the National Indoor Combined Events Championships in Sheffield. It resulted in 7th place for Alicia Wells and 17th place for Grace Walton, with Grace having two more years in this age group. Both are coached by Peter Fendley, providing ever present and incredible support for the squad.
Alicia and Grace started their day with the 60m hurdles. Alicia recorded a national hurdle qualifying time of 9.50s and Grace achieved a new PB with 10.38s. In high jump, Grace equalled her PB of 1.50m and Alicia achieved a season's best at 1.56m. In shot put, Alicia threw a new PB of 9.78m and Grace threw 8.74m. In the long jump Alicia and Grace recorded 5.13m and 4.25m respectively. The final event of the day was the 800m. with Grace achieving a new PB of 2m 49.67s, and Alicia finishing her day with an excellent 800m time of 2m 31.26s, just outside of her PB. Their excellent performances throughout a very strong day of competition, resulted in both girls increasing their overall Pentathlon points scores. Alicia moved her PB up to 3284 points with Grace raising her total to 2545 points. In March we look forward to several athletes competing in the National U17 & U15 Pentathlon Championships. Well done ladies!

On Sunday, a huge nearly 50 strong senior squad headed to Handsworth for round 2 of the local XC league. Handsworth is a love or hate course, with over 5 miles and 800ft of elevation and mud making it a tough one. Points are available for the first 17 runners, with the first 7 men and 7 women scoring and teams getting credit for fielding max runners, so really does mean we win as a team and every runner counts!

Our ladies didn’t disappoint with 20 turning out! Having won match 1, the ladies had a lot to live up to, and did so, coming 1st overall and remain 1st in the series. Hannah Miller won overall for the ladies with another fine performance, and the scoring completed by Madi Spencer with a fine 5th place, Sarah Worley returning to the squad to race after a promise of cake, Sam Robinson, Darcie Wasnidge, Claire Allsop and a great run by Julie Holloway.
26 of our men turned up for a massive squad! After 2nd place last time they were determined to impress, and did so, coming 1st place and are now joint 1st in the series with Clowne. Club Captain Tom Shaw took 1st overall, with Matt Daly, Ben Rhodes, Dom Fielding, Henry Brady, Nick Moore and James Gregory the next Harriers over the line with 19 clubmates in support!
A special mention to our juniors, many of whom were there supporting their parents, and who provided lots of cheers, photos and high 5’s on the course, making it a great morning out for all our Harriers! Next up is Clowne for match 3, with everything to play for!
