This weekend we had a packed couple of days across two compeitions as Pete Fendley reports first from the National Combined Events Final at Bedford
National Combined Events Championships

Over the weekend of 22nd/23rd August we had four athletes representing Worksop Harriers in the England Athletics National Combined Events Championships.
Freddie Marks finished 18th in the Under 18M Decathlon with a Personal Best score of 4495 points, including an amazing five individual event PB's.

Grace Walton finished 15th in the U18W Heptathlon with a score of 3251 points, which included an individual Shot PB.
Summer Johnson finished 15th in the U16W Heptathlon with a score of 3701 points and had an excellent High Jump clearing 1.56m.

Darcey Croshaw finished 22nd in the U16W Heptathlon with a Personal Best score of 3401 points, which included an individual Shot PB.
These four excellent all-round athletes completed 31 events between them over two very hard days of competition and, with the event being 'Live Streamed', ensured that the Grean and Black of Worksop Harriers got a lot of national media coverage. On many occasions over the two days there were two or three Worksop vests on the screen simultaneously, performing at a high level and positively advertising our club.
The full results for all four of our athletes are below.

In just four weeks' time these same athletes will be back at Bedford in the English Schools Combined Events Finals, this time representing Nottinghamshire Schools, and will be joined by Charlotte Ayton and Nelly Thornton (Senior Women) and Isaac Beresford (Junior Boy).
With our combined events group growing ever larger and helping each other to improve we can look forward to many more National standard performances over the coming years.
