We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, got some shiny new running kit, and have a great start to the new year!
Despite the festivities, there were some opportunities to run off the mince pies and Christmas pudding last week.

First up, the final race of the KMR series organised by Kimberworth, Maltby and Rotherham running clubs. A 10-race series across the year, we saw some great Harrier performances. After the final run, the Braithwell Boxing Day race, a 4 mile trail run, our very own Henry Brady and Hannah Miller took home the overall series titles. Matt Daly won the V35 men’s title and Sharon James was second female V60. Recent recruit James Gregory also took home the V40 title. Well done all!
On the day, a big squad of Harriers took part before further indulgence. Henry Brady led the men home followed by Matt Daly, who still took 6th despite a muddy tumble, Ryan Brown, Steve Battle, who also won the men’s V60 prize on the day, Jim Staveley, Chris Lawrence, David Bulmer, Sam Thoreloe, Matan Duveen and John Shephard. The ladies were led in by Kirsty Fairbairn-Wint, 4thoverall, followed by Sam Robinson, Nat Cunningham, Joanne Campbell, Cath Mhembre, Sally Bulmer, Louise Morris, Gillian Shephard and Kim Smith. Mince pies at the finish were very welcome, concluding another well organised event.
On Saturday, David, Sally and Holly Bulmer and Kate and Sam Thorneloe travelled to Filey for the Turkey Burner run, a 5k beach run. Held for fun not prizes, finishers did get an all-important medal, and bragging rights for a tough run on sand!

Finally, the last club Grand Prix race took place Sunday with the seniors making their way to Oxspring for Ambles Revenge, a roughly 8 mile, 1300 ft trail race in the hills. Running for Worksop, Luke Davis led the men home in overall 6th place, followed by Adam Turner and Chris Bliss. Next in was Sam Robinson for the ladies, followed by David Firth, Cath Mhembre who also won 3rd in her age category, James Morgan then Lucy Binch and Nia Arthur running together. Kerry Saville and Kirsty Fairbairn-Wint made up the squad, running under their first claim clubs. A pub lunch followed for a great morning out.

The next few weeks see lots of action as the junior events return, and XC season gets well and truly underway with a series of local races, so lots more to come………
