With no senior races this week, it was over to our junior squad to impress, and that they did!

First up, we need to do a big shout out to an amazing young Harrier. Penny North is a junior squad member who has never been put off by physical challenges she experiences, and this week was determined to show her big brothers Freddie and George than anything they can do, she can do better. Penny took part in her under 9 schools cross Country race against 9 other schools, with a fabulous performance. Penny also had a big smile the whole way around, which is one better than the senior squad manage when they do XC! As our junior coach Michele says, ‘we are so proud of you Penny, you absolutely amaze us.’

Both Penny’s brothers ran too, with George coming 1st in his race despite being ill. Well done to the North family!
On Sunday, a group of juniors travelled to Granthan having been selected to represent Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands sportshall regionals, where athletes complete in a range of indoor events as part of a team. We had Lauren Townrow in U11 girls, who came 3rd overall. For U11 boys Oakley Allsop, Roman Marks, Freddie North and George North all competed and the team came 4th. For U13 boys Ethan Baxter and Isaac Beresford competed in a squad that again came 4th, with Summer Johnson in the U15 girls who came 3rd overall. It was a long but fantastic day for the squad, parents and coaching team with everyone getting some great competition experience and a chance to fly the flag for Notts, and just to have been selected was a sign of how good these young athletes are.

Finally, a big thank you to the people who made the junior event happen. It takes a squad of parents and guardians to enable the juniors to get to events, to support them, and huge support, time and commitment from the coaching team led by Michele with husband Richard.
