On Saturday 25th March the multi-events group took part in the Run/Jump/Throw indoor open meeting at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield.

Four athletes competing in numerous events with Freddie Marks competing in his first Pole Vault competition, clearing 2.06m which has enabled him to enter the National Indoor U17 Heptathlon Championships in March, where he will be joined by Grace Walton(U17W Pentathlon) and Summer Johnson (U15G  Pentathlon).

Freddie also managed to improve his Shot PB by over a metre and ran in the 60m sprint. Grace Walton also achieved a new Shot PB and ran in the 200m. The two outstanding performances of the day belonged to Charlotte Ayton and Alicia Wells who both ran National Championship qualifying times in the U20W 60m hurdles with 9.22s and 9.45s respectively. They will team up with Summer Johnson, also in the 60m hurdles, at the National Championships, in Sheffield, next month. Charlotte also manged a PB of 5.11m in the Long Jump and ran with Alicia in the 200m. Alicia also competed in the Shot, rounding off a busy day for our four athletes.

Also over the weekend, the Tissington Trail weekend took place with a simple course but requiring a bit of pacing as both 10k and half marathons were an out and back to a turn around at half way as well as an up then down course profile meaning it was one to save a little for a faster second half! In the Half Marathon putting that good pacing strategy to good use, Paul Marriott ran well to bag himself a podium place of 3rd in a time of 1:24:43. Alongside Paul, Tom Richardson ran 1:43:18, followed by Sam Marriott in 1:53:12, Jo Campbell (2:00:52) and London Marathon training continues fruitfully for Michelle Atherton running 2:28:46

On the 10k and more solid pacing as Cara Bradley dipped under the hour (59:54) whilst Sarah-Jayne Baines keeps knocking chunks of her times in 1:07:01 whilst Emma Butcher completed a trio of ladies in the 10k in 1:16:28
