Saturday 4th Jan saw the Nottinghamshire and Derby Combined XC championships return to Shipley Park for the first time in a few years for a challenging course with plenty of undulations and a fair bit of mud. Starting with our youngest in the U11Aya St Juste was the solo girl finishing 5th in the 1,500 m whilst on for the boys George North led home a boys team, bagging not only a silver for himself but combined with Oakley Allsop and Hugo McCarthy also winning team Bronze. Up an AG to the U13 and a Strong Run by Holly Bulmer in the 3km got her a spot on the county team whilst Heidi Marks also had a great run. Incredible results on the boys side as it was double gold as Oscar Wallace lead home both the team and the entire field for individual Gold as well as joining up with team mates Henry Marks and Isaac Beresford for team gold! Wrapping up our junior performances and in the U15 4km it was a hard fought county vest for Miley Townrow as she finished 7th whilst in the boys 4.5 km Henry Cole represented the green and black! As well as the junior success two Seniors also were working hard in the mud as Bryan Cherry and Nick Mould took part in a menacing three lap 10 km (and a bit) course for maximum endurance!
On to an indoor catch up and On Sunday 29th December our U15, U17 and U20 athletes put in some fine performances at the Northern Athletics open meeting at the EIS in Sheffield.
