On Saturday 7th December 2024 a few of the Worksop Harriers multi-events squad competed in the indoor open meeting at the EIS in Sheffield to see how their winter training was progressing, and with some excellent results.
In preparation for the National Indoor Multi- events Championships, to be held at Sheffield in early 2025, Charlotte Ayton, Freddie Marks and Summer Johnson, Isaac Beresford and Mason Heath continue to put in excellent performances, which shows that their hard work through the winter months is paying off.
In the U20W category. Charlotte gained pb's in the 60m hurdles (9.86s) and Long Jump (5.02m) and just missed a pb in the 60m (8.23) by 0.03s.
In the U17M events, Freddies Marks completed a hatrick of pb's by running 9.8s in the 60m hurdles, jumping 5.40m in the Long Jump and then clearing 1.75m in the High Jump for an indoor pb.
In the U15 girls event Summer Johnson ran a pb of 10.71s in the 60m hurdles, followed this up with another pb in the 150m (21.97s) and then cleared 1.30m in the High Jump. On Sunday 8th December, Summer Johnson was again in action at the EIS. She started by adding 10cms to her previous day's high jump and equalled her pb with a clearance of 1.40m (=pb). Summer then ran pb's in her 200m (30.44s) and the 600m (2m 03s).
Continuing his excellent progress, newcomer to the group, 14-year-old Dabeer Yousuf, improved his 60m pb to 8.07s and then led his 600m race from gun to tape to record another win and a new pb of 1m 35.17s.
Finally, in the U13 Boys, Isaac Beresford recorded a trio of PBs in 150 m (21.9s), 600 m (1:52) and HJ (1.35 m) and with another three from Mason Heath in 200 m (30.45s), the 600 m and 1.25 m in the HJ for an excellent day for the young athletes with many PBs.
