A busy busy week for the Harriers in this weeks run report as we took a record number to the ever-popular Rother Valley Relays

First up of the week though was the 2nd race of the Monday night Trunce Series. A quieter night than usual for the harriers with most saving their legs for tomorrow night. Dom Fielding continued his successful start to the series with a 3rd place finish with a Father-Daughter duo of Dave and Holly Bulmer also racing in their respective races!

It was Tuesday night which saw the a huge club turn-out for many’s favourite night of the year as over 50 Harriers turned out to form 15 relay teams at the Rother Valley Relays. A single CCW 5k lap of the lake run in relay team fashion as either 4-men, 3-ladies or mixed teams of 4 for a great team evening with plenty of PB’s, fantastic support and some of the strongest racing to date as we were able field competitive teams in all three categories at once! Too many individuals to mention but Harriers young and old competing across the age categories with the Men’s team finishing a very respectable 12th, the ladies sneaking in to the top-10 and the mixed team just missing out on the prizes in 4th it was a great night to watch the green and black flying around with many of South Yorkshire’s top clubs.

On to the weekend and it was a mixture of T&F and off-roading as we start at the 1st Northern League match of the year at Woodburn Road, Sheffield. Ethan Ellery competed in the 200 and 400 m, taking a 3rd place in in 56.9s. Brooklyn Crooks also joined him in the 200m (25.4s) before winning the Long Jump in 5.91m and taking 2nd in the Javelin (34.19m). Finally, Freddie Marks also ran the 400m (61.5s) whilst taking 2nd in the High Jump (1.65m) and 4th in the Triple Jump (10.99m)

Also on Saturday and Nick Mould took on the ‘down-in-a-shot 10k’ that takes runners on a fast but picturesque venture down from just north of Wirksworth before along the canal and finishing in Cromford. A rapid start saw nick contesting not far off the leaders and helped him on the way to PB, not only finishing in 7th place in in 43:11, but using the terrain to his advantage grab a 5k PB en route in 20:52

Biggest miles for the week however go to the six Harriers also in the peaks as they tackled 20 splendid miles and 2500 ft of Ascent at the Hathersage Hurtle. Fantastic weather made for warm weather work at times but fantastic views with James Morgan first Harrier home in 4:08, followed by Jim Staveley in 4:31. Kerry Dickinson and Sally Staveley teamed up to finish in 6:09 whilst the Manley’s also ran together in 6:33.
