Another midweek KMR race kicks start our run report with a Harriers double at the Rockingham 5k. An undulating course which sees runners fly down the start ramp before a climb up to the turnaround and back down for the flying finish as 9 Harriers took part. Taking half the podium’s on offer, Hannah Miller and Matt Daly took 1st place each for and Henry Brady taking third making it a productive evening for the Harriers. Aaron Buckland made a welcome club debut for his first race in the green and black and was joined by Chris Lawrence whilst for the ladies we had Sam Robinson, Sharon James, Louise Morris, Sarah-Jayne Baines and 5k PB for Debbie Lawrence.
On to the weekend it was the final match of the Northern League T&F once again at Cudworth. A small team of Harriers men headed over to cover the running events with some superb runs. James Lonsdale warmed up with an 800m (2:10.7) before an excellent tactical race saw him take 1st in the 1,500 A race (4:19.7) where he was joined by Bryan Cherry also on his T&F debut with a 2nd place finish in the B-Race (5:09.1). Tom Shaw and Ian Monaghan were once again stalwarts of the 5,000 with two SB’s for the two as Tom took 1st in the A-Race (16:05.9) and Ian 2nd in the B-Race (19:09.8). Rounding out the team was a final debut as young Harry Cole ran a PB in the 400m (70.1s) before finishing the day with 200m (30.9s)
Off the track and it was just as busy up and down the country as once again up in Northumberland. Nick Mould took part South Shields Coastal 10 Mile this morning. A beautiful course, starting and finishing at Souters Lighthouse and a mix of coastal paths , fields with the odd bit of road made it a challenging run but rewarded with nice medal and buff, Nick finished in a little over 1:20.
Down to the opposite end of the country and in Cornwall and there wasn’t much hint of a summer as The Indian Queens Half Marathon took place in heavy rain and win along an undulating and hilly course from Fraddon. A bit of a fan favourite as the Bulmers made it another edition (collecting another one of their favourite T-Shirts) and this year joined by Tanja Maric as well as seeing a few friendly Harrier faces on the way round.
Rounding up the weekend with the biggest miles and seven Harriers took on the 26-ish mile and 4000ft fell race starting and finishing in Dovedale and through Hurdlow, Longnor, Wetton, Milldale and back to Dovedale. Kerry Saville was first back dipping under 5 hours followed by brother Kevin, Charlotte Randell and then a troop of Harriers made the journey together of Sam Marriott, Jo Campbell, Cathy Mhembere and Michelle Atherton completing in 7:37
