Plenty of school pride our young harriers as seven of them represented Bassetlaw in the Notts Schools T&F compeition this weekend at the Harvey Hadden Stadium. PB's, medals and a Mason competition qualifier made its a successful day out as a Young Freddie M finished second in the H/J (1.70m) and a 1st place in the Hurdles. Freddie will now go on to compete at the Mason Trophy competition this coming Satuday. A Bronze for Summer Johnson as she took 3rd in the HJ (1.35m) and a 5th place hurdles whilst sister Lily also took Bronze in the LJ. Charlotte Ayton took Silver in the Hurdles and will also go on to compete at the Mason Trophy whilst Ceryn Greaves finished 5th in the HJ (1.25m) and also competed in the Shot. Finally, Olivia Wright narrowly missed out on a bronze medal finished 4th in the LJ (4.13 m) by just 2 cam whilst also competing in the 200 m

The ever popular club favourite (and always a sell out) Swaledale Marathon took place on Saturday for its 43rd edition. The 23.5 mile route with over 4000 ft of elevation took place in cool and windy conditions but it was lovely and sunny with great visibility. With 3 big climbs and very varied terrain, this is a challenging route which requires self navigation to 10 checkpoints but makes for a great day out. The reward at the finish is always a hot meal, a certificate and cloth badge and a piece of local handmade pottery. First home for the Harriers was James Morgan in 5:50, followed by Cath Mhembere making her debut in 6:25, Lee-Anne in 7:21, Sarah Morgan, Mark Manley and Jime Staveley in 7:22 and Sally Staveley (earning a fantastic 10th Swaledale badge) in 7:23 and Kerry and Tammy Dickinson in 8:05. We rounded the day off with an evening meal and a well earned drink in a local pub.

On Sunday Nick Mould was the solo Harrier at the Woodhall Spa 10k with an excellently paced 44:26 and a very nice medal to boot
