Over in the East Yorkshire this weeks report for Gemma Hind's participation on the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) Woldsman event where runners are very welcome. A choice of a 51 or 32 mile route across the undulating wolds making for some super trail running. An excellent performance from Gemma coming in at 7h 42m on the 32 miler.

On to Sunday and over in the Derbyshire Dales and Emma Butcher took on the Monsal Trail Half Marathon. A scenic out-and-back course from just outside Bakewell saw runners heading West along a glorious sunlit trail to the turn around at Miller’s Dale, mixing in the tree line trail with some excellent view from up on the trail (and through the Tunnel’s). Emma finished in a time of 2:46 and was rewarded with an excellent post-race medal for the efforts!

Sticking with the Half Marathon theme and down in London it was a very different kind of run as Sally and Dave Bulmer took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Starting by Westminster, as the name suggest the route twists and turns around London as runners head along the Embankment and over to many of London’s famous old and new landmarks before back down the embankment to finish by St James’ Park. David finished in a time of 1:42:13 and Sally 1:57:06 as both ran to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

Finishing with the shortest run this week as quite a few Harriers headed over the border to bag a handful of PB’s at the City of Lincoln 10k. A 1.5 lap figure-8 flat and fast course sees runners head out around the North side of the City, passing back through the start-line by Yarborough Leisure Centre at approx. 7 km before a mad dash for the finish line towards the Lincoln Cathedral, finishing through the gates. A good handful of PB’s and club standards to boot as Thomas Shaw was first Harrier home with a PB in 32:34. Chris Lawrence followed next in 41:25 for a big PB and Gold Standard followed by two Harriers making a welcome return to racing as Bryan Cherry and Nick Mould ran 42:09 and 46:34. Out first lady was next with another big PB as Nia Arthur ran 51:20 followed by two more PB’s as Katrina Considine and Sarah Dickinson dipped under the hour in 58:36 and 59:39. Finishing off the Harriers team, Adrian Thompson ran 59:21 and Sarah Cherry ran 1:09:54
